A rare, complete edition of 15 plates Ferdinand Bauer’s Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae, stipple-engraved on copper by Ferdinand Bauer between 1806 and 1813 after his watercolours drawn from nature on Captain Matthew Flinder’s circumnavigation of Australia in HMS Investigator 1801-1803.
The set of 15 plates is presented in a Solander case as individual mounted sheets, with title and text pages, together with a bound set of the 15 plates printed in sepia.
Printed à la poupée, hand-finished in watercolour and published in 1989 by Alecto Historical Editions in association with the British Museum (Natural History) in a limited edition of 35 copies. These were the first impressions to be taken from the original plates since 1813.
