Joseph Banks and his party saw this species at: Point Lookout, Australia (1770) Endeavour River, Australia (17 June - 4 August 1770) This smallish perennial species is commonly known as scarlet-flower blood-root, the sap having a blood-red colour. It is found in north-eastern Queensland and the Northern Territory in heaths and forests, particularly on sandy soils.
