Line engraving by Charles White, after Sydney Parkinson (1771) and John Frederick Miller (1774).
Joseph Banks and his party saw this species at: Princes' Island, Java (6 January - 15 January 1771) This tall evergreen tree has long veined leaves and large salver-shaped fragrant white flowers with a red eye. The large fruit, somewhat like that of a mango in appearance, suggested the name Mangas or Manghas. It is a coastal species recorded from Sri Lanka, Malaysia, New Guinea and the Philippines.
